LANSING, Mich. -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson is leading a rally at Michigan's state Capitol to call for new policies to help revive U.S. manufacturing and the domestic auto industry.The Monday rally comes just hours after General Motors Corp. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Seven Michigan factories will be closed or idled as part of the announcement.Plant Closure Lists Other officials planned to join Jackson at the rally on the Capitol steps, including Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow and the mayors of Lansing, East Lansing, Bay City and Saginaw.Some workers were coming in by bus for the rally.Jackson was calling for changes in trade and financial policies and fairness for autoworkers."We must stand together and fight for fairness within the auto industry. Workers, dealers, and suppliers must not be eliminated for the sake of expediency," said Jackson at a forum last week.
