"Buy-a-bust" is a sting aimed at drug dealers in school zones. When convicted, dealers are guaranteed to do time behind bars."They've got to do at least three years," said Maj. Charles Nanney of MDPD's Narcotics Unit.Nanney said dealers convicted within 1,000 feet of a school zone automatically get a first-degree felony on their record and a minimum sentence of 3 years.Nanney said the department is not only trying to keep those who obey the law safe, but the dealers as well."Most kids in Dade are shot over a drug turf dispute or a robbery gone bad," he said.
