COCONUT CREEK, Fla. -- South Florida students hoping to break into the business world have a new facility where they can hone their skills.
Junior Achievement World, located on the Coconut Creek campus of Broward Community College, is designed just for children.
Every fifth- and eighth-grader in Broward County will spend a day inside the facility, learning about being an adult by running businesses, cashing checks and buying lunch.
"It feels like this is my city and it's really cool," said Noah Pascal, the acting mayor.
Some of the children even get a chance to act as the new faces of Local 10 inside the facility. A 10-year-old even worked as a meteorologist for a day.
Junior Achievement World provides education specifically created to prepare children for the real world.
"They come out of there saying, 'I understand why it's difficult at home during bill paying time because money doesn't grow on trees," said Keith Gall of Junior Achievement World.
The facility is not open to the public. Children in Broward County schools will visit Junior Achievement World as part of their curriculum. About 20,000 children will tour the facility each school year.
