Sources: Judge In Smith Case Signs TV Deal

Seidlin Will Record Pilot Episode For CBS In L.A. Next Month

POSTED: Thursday, June 21, 2007

What many speculated will soon become reality.

Broward County Judge Larry Seidlin, who announced his retirement earlier this week, is getting his own court television show.

The 56-year-old judge who made national headlines while presiding over the Anna Nicole Smith burial case has signed a development deal with CBS for the 2008 season, according to multiple industry sources.

Judge Larry Seidlin wrote a letter to Florida Gov. Charlie Crist on Tuesday saying he wanted to "devote more of my daily life to my young family." The letter said his last day as a Broward County judge would be July 31.

Sources said Seidlin made a demo tape of cases that were recorded in his courtroom during the high-profile Smith case.

Seidlin graduated from night law school in New York. He was a taxi driver who worked his way through school. At 28, Seidlin became the youngest judge ever to be elected in Broward County.

He will be in Los Angeles next month to record the pilot episode, according to The Miami Herald.
