POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- The Broward County fair kicked off Friday afternoon at a new location, but a lack of funding means it will be a smaller event than it has been in the past.
The fair is being held this year at the Pompano Citi Centre.
It is the first time in the fair's 34-year history that there will be no big rides or circus acts. A lack of funds and a location forced the fair to downsize. The hours also have been cut back.
The Pompano Citi Centre is located at 1955 N. Federal Highway in Pompano Beach. The fair will be open weekdays and Saturdays from noon-9 p.m. and Sundays from noon-6 p.m. and ends Nov. 29. The fair will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
