Unique Weight Loss Program Helping Shed Unwanted Pounds

POSTED: Monday, January 22, 2007

Many people will start a new diet this month.

A Plantation company has a unique program that's helping people shed those unwanted pounds.

There are no processed foods or diet pills.

This new process involves adding and taking away foods that may not work for your individual needs.

Janet Brady, 66, had been struggling with making the right food choices.

"I was not eating right. I had formed bad habits over the years and with your age, your metabolism slows down and I really started to look different to what I used to many years ago," said Brady.

Not impressed with most diet programs out there, she decided to try The Weight Manager in Plantation.

"First of all I realized I wouldn't have to be buying packaged foods from specific places. I wouldn't have to be taking pills. We don't sell anything," said Brady.

Program director Diana Dubin said foods are added and taken away based on how clients react to them.

"It's just learning which foods are going to fill you more, which foods are going to satisfy you. You'll learn which foods are giving you the cravings. Also they may be getting too much salt or too much sugar. Not everybody can do the same foods and have the same effects," said Dubin.

Programs are designed for each individual's needs and Dubin said it works for people of all ages.

Recipes are included, plus information on how to order out at restaurants.

Online programs are also available

"Just some subtle changes that you do can result in some big changes on the scale. It's so simple to follow. They don't count calories. They don't count anything. We say this is the amount of fruits, vegetables, protein, go eat," said Dubin.

And the most important part, clients are seeing results.

"I lost 25 pounds and kept it off," said Jacki Montag, a weightloss counselor with The Weight Manager.

"I've done very well indeed I think. I'm very happy with my progress. I've lost 20 pounds 10 inches not bad," said Brady.

Clients are also encouraged to exercise, yet dubin admits your diet is 80 percent of the battle.

Make sure to check with your doctor before starting a weight loss program.
