With childhood obesity on the rise, teaching kids about nutrition and healthful eating becomes more important every day. Several leading health organizations have taken a stand in favor of more nutrition education for children.

The American Dietetic Association, Society for Nutrition Education and American School Food Service Association have joined forces on a position statement stressing the importance of comprehensive nutrition services for all children from preschool through grade 12.

The organizations call for nutrition education, access to and promotion of programs that provide nutritious meals and snacks in schools and family, community and health service partnerships to support positive health outcomes for all children.

Healthy habits start early in life. Providing an educational environment that fosters these habits is key for children to grow up to be healthy adults.
