Cosmetic Surgery Death Ruled Accident

Woman Dies After Liposuction Procedure

WESTON, Fla. -- The death of a woman who died after undergoing a liposuction procedure at a Weston day spa has been ruled an accident.

According to the Broward County medical examiner, 37-year-old Rohie Orukotan died from cardiac arrest and seizures she suffered while undergoing surgery.

The state attorney must now determine whether any criminal charges will be filed.

Dr. Omar Brito performed the procedure on Orukotan inside the Weston Med Spain September. Her family's lawyers said she began having seizures during the procedure and went into cardiac arrest. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
