Chiropractics May Help Infertility
Infertility affects more than six million women in this country according to the Centers For Disease Control.
While the latest fertility treatments are helping some couples conceive, a new study found chiropractic adjustments may also provide a benefit.
Chiropractor Dr. Craig Kaler says re-aligning the spine helps the body to work correctly.
"The job of a chiropractor is essentially to remove subluxations which are misalignments in the spine, to take the pressure off the nerve, to allow the body to work better," Kaler said.
A recent study published in the Journal Of Vertebral Subluxation studied fifteen women with infertility. After two months of chiropractic adjustments, fourteen of those women were able to conceive.
The lead researcher says when the spine is misaligned the nerves misfire and cause a hormone imbalance which can prevent a woman from getting pregnant.
Dr. Kenneth Gelman added that no studies have been done to show what effect chiropractic has on the ovulation process and says more research is needed.
