HONOLULU -- Neki has weakened to a tropical storm as it spins far out in the central Pacific.
Neki was once a powerful hurricane, but its top winds have dropped to near 75 mph. Additional weakening is expected.
The hurricane is centered about 400 miles west of Lihue, Hawaii, and moving north-northeast near 7 mph.
The storm isn't expected to threaten Hawaii, but a tropical storm warning has been issued for part of a marine conservation area northwest of the islands.
