New Broward, Miami-Dade Bus Route Starts

SOUTH FLORIDA -- The weekday rush-hour commute could be getting a bit easier.
A new bus route got into gear Monday with express service between southwest Broward County in Pembroke Pines to areas in northwest Miami-Dade County and back.
The following is an excerpt of a press release from the Miami-Dade County Transit Department that breaks down the specifics of the routes:
This new route will operate with full-size buses and will make limited stops. Buses will be diverted between I-75 and SR 826 via Miami Gardens Drive and Ludlam Road to serve higher density residential areas in Northwest Miami-Dade.Trips will leave weekday mornings from Pembroke Lakes between 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., arriving at Palmetto Metrorail station from 6:20 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The route will leave Metrorail for southwest Broward from 6:30 a.m. to 7:33 a.m.The Northwest Dade Express will leave Palmetto Metrorail station weekday afternoons from 4 p.m. to 7:05 p.m., with buses arriving at Pembroke Lakes Mall between 4:57 p.m. and 8:02 p.m. Trips will leave Pembroke Lakes to serve Metrorail from 5:05 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.For more information, call Miami-Dade Transit Customer Service (weekdays, 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.) at 305-770-3131 or 305-891-3131, for residents who live South of S.W. 216th Street.
