OAKLAND PARK, Fla. -- A woman posing as a customer pulled out a gun and tried to rob a nail salon last month but ended up escaping empty-handed, police said.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the would-be robber went into Wanda's Pretty Nails in the 1300 block of East Commercial Boulevard just before 1 p.m. on June 24.
The woman inquired about getting a pedicure. When she and the salon owner got to the middle of the shop, police said, the woman pulled out a handgun and demanded cash.
BSO said the would-be robber left the store but did not end up stealing anything. She escaped in a white Chevrolet 1500 series two-door extended cab pickup truck, police said.
The woman was between 20 and 30 years old, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and 140 pounds. She had brown hair pulled into a bun, and there was a large tattoo on the lower part of her left leg. Police said she was last seen wearing large sunglasses, a white shirt, dark shorts and black flip-flops, and she carried a beige purse.
Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
