NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- A Florida Memorial student is speaking out after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting three security guards last week.
Emory Mitchell, 19, was released from jail Saturday Night. He told Local 10, he was locked up in a bathroom and beaten for 10 minutes by campus guards.
“He held me while the other two officers hits me kicked me with batons one of them slammed my face into the side of the bathroom door," Mitchell said.
Part of the explosive incident was captured on camera by students gathered in the hallway. It all started when a security officer asked Mitchell for his school I.D. after accusing him of carrying drugs. Mitchell told the officer he didn’t have his I.D. and continued walking.
“I asked him if I go to the bathroom was he going to follow me. He said, 'If you go into the bathroom I’m going to beat your a--,'" Mitchell said.
Both went inside. What happened next remains unclear but according to Mitchell, the officers ganged up on him.
Florida Memorial issued this statement, “We regret that the student assaulted the private security officer, but are pleased that no one, including the student suspect, was seriously injured. Florida Memorial's administration will continue to investigate details about the incident.”
Mitchell was been suspended from school and faces criminal charges. He said he plans to fight it all the way.
“I’m going to continue to speak out until there is justice. I don’t have anything to hide and the truth will prevail," he told Local 10.
