Sports Channels | Mavs' Thomas Undergoes SurgeryPOSTED: Tuesday, September 22, 2009 Dallas, TX -- (Sports Network) - Dallas Mavericks forward Tim Thomas had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday.Mavericks team physician Dr. T.O. Souryal performed the procedure to repair torn cartilage at Texas Sports Medicine. A timetable for Thomas' return has not yet been set. Thomas, who signed with Dallas in the offseason, suffered the injury while working out in his home in Southern California. The versatile journeyman joined his seventh NBA team spanning a 12-year career in the league, having been selected seventh overall out of Villanova in 1997 by the 76ers. A pair of stints in New York and Chicago followed as well as stops in Milwaukee, Phoenix and with the Clippers. Thomas has career averages of 11.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 806 career regular-season games. The 6-foot-10 sharpshooter has shown an ability to increase his production come playoff time, averaging 13.3 points and 5.1 boards over seven different playoff runs.
