Young Boy Found Wandering Near Gas Station

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. -- The parents of a young boy found Sunday near a busy thoroughfare has come forward to claim him.

A woman found the child shortly before 2 p.m. near the Hess gas station at the intersection of 135th Street and West Dixie Highway and called police.

Hess attendant Melissa Villanueva said the officer who responded told her the child appeared to be no more than 2 years old.

The child was taken to Parkway Hospital as a precaution and was determined to be OK. No charges have been filed, but the state Department of Children and Families is investigating.
