BSO: Pirate Radio Station Came From Antenna In Palm Tree

POSTED: Friday, November 3, 2006

The Broward Sheriff's Office on Wednesday arrested a man they said was operating a pirate radio station that was interfering with a licensed broadcast signal.

Sitho Bains is charged with unauthorized transmission/interference with a public radio station, a third-degree felony.

According to BSO detectives, engineers from a Christian radio station tracked the signal to Bains' home at 2301 N.W. 60th Ave. in Sunrise.

Detectives said they discovered a radio antenna attached to a palm tree in the front yard with a cable line running into the home.

Bains, 41, signed a consent-to-search form and allowed detectives to seize his radio equipment.

He is free on $1,000 bond.
