POSTED: Monday, December 11, 2006
POMPANO BEACH. Fla. -- Two robbers were caught on camera stealing more than $164,000 in merchandise from a fishing equipment store -- and detectives believe the crooks may have hit other sports stores.
When employees of the Chaos Rods & Lures store at 590 S.W. Ninth Terrace in Pompano Beach showed up to work on Dec. 4, they found the business in disarray with merchandise thrown all over the floor, and immediately contacted the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives said that the surveillance video from the business’ security system clearly showed the burglars enter the store through the rear door, use a crowbar to knock down the box of the alarm system, and proceed to load up their vehicle with reels, rods and other fishing merchandise.
Detectives said that there have been similar burglaries at other fishing stores along the east coast of Florida and believe the may have been committed by the same burglars.
Anyone who recognizes the suspects or has any information about this burglary is asked to call Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS.
