MIAMI -- First there was dial-up, then it was Broadband and now online users have the choice of wireless Internet access. Wi-fi, as it's called, allows Internet users to connect to the web without needing a modem or router to get online.
In recent years, wireless Internet access has become popular among users and some businesses, like Starbucks and Kinko's-Fed Ex, which offer the service to customers with the online capability.
But now condo boards are starting to offer Wi-fi to its customers-- the residents.
Several South Florida high-rises already offer Wi-fi service to its interested residents and the latest condo to join the wireless trend is The Charter Club on the Bay in Miami.
The 22-story condo, located off trendy Biscayne Corridor, went wireless at the start of the new year.
Interested residents can choose from three different speeds and there is no contract.
There is one catch; the wireless service is not included in the condo fees.
Depending on how fast residents want to be able to surf the web, the monthly rate ranges from $24.95 to $34.95.
