Grand Juror In Latest O.J. Incident Is Arrested

FBI Says Grand Jury Member Tipped Off Those Indicted

O.J. Simpson's lawyer says that Simpson did not know about the raid on his house before it happened -- even though a grand juror has been arrested, accused of leaking the information.

John AcostaJohn Acosta (pictured, left) was a member of the federal grand jury that handed down the indictments in the Operation X case that led to last week's arrests. The two-year investigation targeted an international criminal organization that was allegedly involved in narcotics trafficking and money laundering. Acosta is accused of getting in touch with one of the defendants to tell her that she was named in the indictments.

The FBI said that Acosta heard testimony and saw evidence about Andrew Anderson and his alleged drug organization. Anderson was among those charged in the case.

Agents said that at first, Acosta denied leaking the information -- but later told authorities that he alerted Zenaida Galvez, another defendant, to the investigation and indictment. The FBI said that Acosta was a friend of Galvez's boyfriend.

Acosta will appear in federal court this afternoon.

Sources said that there is no evidence so far that Simpson was tipped off that his house was going to be searched. Yale Galanter, Simpson's attorney said O.J. had known about the raid he would "not have been in his bathrobe, and his kids would not have been in the house."

Galanter says that Simpson became part of the investigation "late in the game" and that he is only part of it because either his "voice or name is on tape."

Galanter said that the night before the raid he received a call from someone claiming to work in local media telling him about it, but he wrote it off as a prank. He says he gets many calls about what O.J. is doing, and though he used to pursue them, he stopped because they never amounted to anything.
