Puppies Likely Killed In Hialeah Business Fire

Firefighters Say Blaze Started At Hialeah Radiators, Spread To Adjacent Businesses

POSTED: Monday, April 23, 2007

An early-morning fire consumed three Hialeah businesses and likely killed a litter of puppies in the process.

The fire began at about 1:30 a.m. Monday near East 29th Street and 10th Avenue.

It was believed to have started inside Hialeah Radiators, where most of the structural damage occurred.

Firefighters said the flames spread to two adjacent businesses, Doral Paint & Body Shop and Barney's Auto Repair, and also caused several vehicles parked nearby to burn.

One of those vehicles belonged to Barney Aldarado, whose business was also damaged. He said state fire investigators told him the blaze was suspicious in nature.

The fire was contained and nobody was injured, but a guard dog was walked through the rubble to search for her puppies, which were lost in the fire.
