I-NEWS ONLY: 'Wrapping' Allows Ads Anywhere

Whether You Want To Advertise On Building, Car Or Fence, 'Wrapping' Offers Endless Possibilities

POSTED: Monday, May 21, 2007

Ads are everywhere -- or at least you thought they were.

With new technology called "wrapping," the possibilities are endless for advertisers looking to get your attention.

"Wrapping is large format digital printing with pressure sensitive vinyl adhesive that allows advertisers to put up messages anywhere they can think of," said Jim Whitehead of Innovative Media.

While wraps have been done on show vehicles for years, NASCAR being one of the media, Whitehead said that it is just now that wrapping is moving into the mainstream.

The vinyl adhesive allows the ads to be applied to any kind of surface -- whether it's the floor with tile or carpet, the ceiling with fabrics, walls, waters towers or even the side of hotels and office building.

One hotel off 79th Street in Miami has giant ads stuck on both the north and south sides of the building.

One ad is for a new Volkswagen, the other has Shaquille O'Neal on it, advertising the Miami Heat basketball team.

With all the construction going on along the Biscayne corridor, several restaurants have purchased wrapping to cover chain-linked fences that expose customers to construction workers and equipment.

And while it may not be a cheaper advertising alternative, its ability to stick in the minds of consumers is making it worth the money to those buying them.
