Hollywood police continue to question the bank employee who said he was abducted and used as a human explosive during a robbery Tuesday afternoon at the Wachovia Bank in the 1900 block of Tyler Street.

Hollywood police Capt. Tony Rode told Local 10's Janine Stanwood that the man they are questioning works at the Wachovia, but it was his day off.

The employee told police that two men wearing masks and armed with handguns approached him outside his Dania Beach home and forced him at gunpoint into his car. The three then allegedly drove to the bank.

"Prior to going into the bank, they strapped what appeared to be an explosive device to this individual's chest and midsection area," Rode said.

The employee told police he was forced to open the side door of the bank drive-through with a bomb strapped onto him while the two masked men forced the teller to give up a "substantial amount of cash," according to investigators.

Police said the masked men got away.

A three-block radius was evacuated and the device was removed from the employee and detonated in a safe area.

Hollywood police confirmed Wednesday that the device was not a real explosive.
