LIGHTHOUSE POINT, Fla. -- An early-morning CVS robbery led to a man being captured as he was leaving the 24-hour pharmacy, according to Broward Sheriff's Office deputies.
BSO said the robbery happened around 5:55 a.m. at 3580 N. Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point.
Deputies said they encountered the man as he was exiting after robbing the CVS. Initial reports was that he shot in the hand by a BSO deputy, but BSO's public information officer Veda Coleman Wright said he was cut by glass on the hand when deputies fired into the vehicle.
No other injuries were reported.
Police found a knit hat, a gun, a cash drawer containing money, and a pile of cash in the back seat of the car.
There have been almost 20 robberies of 24-hour pharmacies in Broward County since May, but detectives said the man is not connected to the robberies and they believe that he was acting alone.
