MIRAMAR, Fla. -- A Miramar commissioner is due in court the day after Christmas to face charges after he pulled a gun on a customer at a supermarket, police said.
Fitzroy Salesman was in line at Winn Dixie supermarket on South University Drive when he allegedly got into an argument with another customer.
Salesman was charged with a misdemeanor gun violation Wednesday after police were summoned to the store at 10:30 p.m.
Salesman had a semi-automatic handgun tucked into the waistband of his pants, according to police.
Customers ran for cover when Salesman brandished the gun after he and another store patron began arguing, witnesses said. Salesman said he felt threatened because the individual appeared to reach for something near his waistband.
The commissioner has a concealed weapons permit.
