Miami police are searching for the people responsible for robbing a pair of Chinese tourists of jewelry Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the two men were putting gas in a rental car at a Shell Gas Station at 42nd Avenue and Northwest Sixth Street around 4 p.m.

Investigators said a burgundy-colored SUV carrying at least five people pulled up behind the car. Three men wearing clothing that covered their entire bodies and faces started breaking the windows to the vehicle, according to city of Miami police.

Two of the men proceeded to grab two bags from the rear seat of the car. The bags were filled with jewelry, according to the tourists from Hong Kong.

One of the robbers punched the driver. The gold and diamond jewelry was valued at $300,000, the men said.

The tourists said they were making a delivery to a buyer in Miami and they told police that whoever robbed them knew what they had in the car.
