BOCA RATON, Fla. -- A man considered to be a person of interest in the deaths of a mother and her 8-year-old daughter outside the Boca Town Mall has been arrested on an unrelated charge, but police are still searching for a second person of interest.
David Goodman was located Tuesday evening in Miami and taken in for questioning about the two deaths. After speaking with investigators, he was arrested on an outstanding warrant charge for grand theft in Broward County.
Nancy Bochicchio, 47, and Joey Bochicchio-Hauser, of Boca Raton, were discovered dead by mall security in a black 2007 Chrysler Aspen with the motor still running around midnight Dec. 12. The sport utility vehicle was parked in a merchandise pickup area near the south side of the Sears department store. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. Police said both mother and daughter had been bound and shot.
Police have not named either man a suspect but said they could have information about the case. Additionally, Charles is believed to have had access to the victim's cellular telephone, according to Boca Raton police.
The
South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting that Bochicchio's purse was found in Miami's Overtown neighborhood and that the pair might have used at least one of her credit cards.
"I understand, you know, that's what's been going around in news circles, but all I can tell you right now, we're only confirming what we have put out," Boca Raton police Sgt. Jeff Kelly. "We have not put that out, so we're not going to confirm it."
Meanwhile, a $350,000 reward is being offered for information about the case.
"We've put up a serious reward to encourage anyone with the smallest detail to come forward," Mayor Steven Abrams said Friday. "Our police department is working around the clock to solve this crime."
