PLANTATION, Fla. -- A woman who police said was caught on surveillance tape stuffing a puppy under her sweater at a pet store was charged with grand theft Tuesday after being spotted in the store's parking lot.
Plantation police said an anonymous tip led them to Jennifer Daddona, of Davie, who was seen allegedly stealing the Chihuahua Jan. 7 at Precious Puppies at 801 S. University Drive.
"The tips identified her by name and we were able to match a picture to the tape so we knew who we where looking for," said Sgt. Rob Reddick of the Plantation Police Department.
Daddona, 26, was arrested in her car in the store's parking lot Tuesday night with the $1,600 dog.
"A Plantation police officer was at the store to take a report when a person came in and said Daddona was sitting in a car in the parking lot," said Reddick.
Reddick said Daddona told them she was there to return the puppy.
Daddona was arrested and charged with grand theft and booked into the Broward County Jail.
