HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- A pit bull that was found wounded in a Dumpster is being cared for by a volunteer pet-rescue organization.
Kathy Ulsrud was taking out the trash Monday morning when she discovered the pit bull in the bottom of the Dumpster. The pit bull, named McChomperton, had a posterior stab wound 3 inches deep that might cause him to lose a leg.
"He is just as gentle and as kind as can be," said Ulsrud. "I don't know who could have done it. I don't know. And I've had tears over it and I've felt so bad."
Volunteers with the Faktura Pet Projekt pulled him out.
"He had been dumped in this Dumpster, in the dark, afraid, without food or water and, as soon as she opened the Dumpster, there he was, ready to receive love and help," said Jacquelyn Johnston.
