A 17-year-old cross dresser was shot and killed early Friday morning after arguing with two men seen running from the area, according to Fort Lauderdale Police.

Sgt. Kathy Collins said that Simmie Lewis Williams Jr. was dressed as a woman and was standing at the corner of 10th Avenue and Sistrunk Boulevard at 12:45 a.m. Friday.

"Witnesses said he was in a verbal argument with two men and then they heard several shots being fired and the men took off running," said Collins.

Williams was transported to Broward General Medical Center where he later died.

Police are hoping more witnesses will come forward with information to help solve the case. Anyone with information should call Fort Lauderdale Detective Mark Breen at 954-828-5708 or CrimeStoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
