NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A car struck a 4-month-old and a 1-year-old Wednesday night while their mother pushed them in a stroller, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
According to investigators, a North Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department employee was driving westbound on Bailey Road near State Road 7 when he hit the stroller with the two babies inside. A sergeant at the scene told Local 10's Janine Stanwood the 4-month-old boy was unresponsive when firefighters first arrived.
That 4-month-old was airlifted to Broward General Medical Center, while the 1-year-old was transported in an ambulance with his mother, who was not injured.
At the time of the crash, investigators were interviewing the city employee and taking measurements of the site to determine what had happened.
The BSO said the babies remained in stable condition at the hospital and did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
