HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- A bomb threat called in to the Broward County Transit Authority had Young Circle in Hollywood completely shut down during the busy lunch hour, but was deemed a hoax after a bomb squad found nothing.
Sgt. Manny Marino of the Hollywood Police Department said two separate phone threats were called in several minutes apart. The caller specifically targeted BCTA bus 0008 and identified the specific route of the bus, said Marino.
Local 10 reported that a building across the street on the north side of Young Circle was evacuated.
"We took this as a credible threat," said Marino.
The driver and passengers were evacuated, and the driver was taken to a command post set up behind the Publix Supermarket in Hollywood.
The BSO bomb squad was called to the scene, where bomb-detecting dogs went through the interior and the exterior of the bus but found nothing, Local 10 reported.
