Receive Alerts When Sex Offenders Move Near You
POSTED: Thursday, March 27, 2008
MIAMI -- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement unveiled a new feature on the state's sexual offender and predator registry Web site Thursday.
Citizens can now sign up to receive e-mail alert notifications when a registered sexual offender or predator moves within a certain radius of any designated location. Citizens can also choose to track address changes reported by selected registered offenders or predators.
The alert system will send e-mail notifications within 24 to 48 hours of an address change to the state's registry. Citizens can select an unlimited number of sex offenders or predators to track and can update their selections at any time free of charge.
