LAUDERHILL, Fla. -- Broward Sheriff’s Office said one of its detectives fired at a man who attempted to run the officer over Friday night.
Detectives said that the incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. during an undercover drug-buying operation in Lauderhill. They said Adrein Moore sold drugs to an undercover officer, but when the officer tried to arrest him, he resisted.
Moore allegedly backed up, ramming the detective's parked car. The officer said Moore then aimed his 1999 Dodge Intrepid and tried to run over the officer, who was standing in the street.
The detective fired one shot, hitting Moore's vehicle before Moore fled the scene.
A few hours later, BSO detectives arrested Moore at 3251 NW 23 Court in Lauderdale Lakes. He faces several charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, delivery of cocaine and a probation violation.
Moore was booked into BSO's Main Jail.
The detective, whose name was not released because of his undercover status, was not injured.
