MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Miami-Dade police substation is doubling as a crime scene after someone opened fire at the building early Wednesday morning.
Several shots were fired at the Hammocks District Police Station, 10000 SW 142nd Ave., shortly after 1 a.m. Three bullet holes were found in the glass windows of the building's lobby, where officers were working at the time.
"You're dealing with a building that is occupied by human beings," Miami-Dade police Detective Juan Villalba said. "Be it that they are police officers, they're still human beings. … Anytime you discharge a firearm into an occupied building, it's something very serious to us."
The bullets struck the countertop in the lobby, but no officers were injured.
Police said they were reviewing surveillance video to determine who fired the shots.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
