Shooting Stemmed From Domestic Dispute, Police Say

POSTED: Monday, April 28, 2008

Fort Lauderdale police are searching for a man suspected of fatally shooting a woman and wounding another during an apparent domestic dispute Sunday afternoon.

Kevin Cartwright is wanted in connection with the shootings of Shanesa Conway and Shameca Davis.

The shootings occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. at 716 NW 14th Terrace.

According to police, Cartwright was involved in a domestic disturbance with one of the women. Police said the dispute turned physical, at which point Cartwright pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking Davis in the leg and Conway in the head.

Both women were transported to Broward General Medical Center, where Conway was later pronounced dead. Davis remains hospitalized but is expected to survive.

Police said Cartwright was last seen possibly driving a gold Chevrolet with 24- to 27-inch wheels. Police said he is also known to drive a dark green or gold Ford Taurus.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
