Newspaper Says Celine Dion, Tiger Woods Water Hogs
POSTED: Tuesday, May 27, 2008
PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Celine Dion is a water hog.
The Palm Beach Post did a study of local water usage and found Celine Dion's 5.7 acres in Jupiter, Florida, used about 6.5 million gallons of water in a year.
That's more than 250 times the amount of water the average resident uses, or equivalent to filling a 50-gallon bathtub every four minutes.
A 9,800-square-foot home is under construction at the site. Representatives for Dion did not respond to requests for comment.
Tiger Woods was second on newspaper's list, using about 3.7 million gallons of water in a year. A spokesman for Woods' charitable foundation says much of that went to new landscaping.
