FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The son of a Broward Sheriff's Office deputy is behind bars, accused of falsely impersonating a law enforcement officer.
Myco Coker, 18, is being held on $4,500 bail.
Sunrise police arrested Coker on Tuesday after they received an anonymous report that an unmarked police vehicle was conducting traffic stops near University Drive and West Oakland Park Boulevard.
Police said the driver's actions seemed inconsistent with normal law enforcement procedures, which made them suspicious.
When questioned, Coker identified himself as a BSO deputy who was driving home from work.
When identification was requested, Coker could not provide the proper credentials.
Coker's father, the deputy he was allegedly impersonating, was called. He told police his cruiser was missing.
Coker was charged with grand theft auto and falsely impersonating a law enforcement officer. He remained in a Fort Lauderdale jail Wednesday morning.
