LAS VEGAS -- A Nevada judge wants to hear from a man who told a lawyer he recorded a key witness contradicting his sworn testimony in the O.J. Simpson armed robbery and kidnapping case.
Judge Jackie Glass told Clark County prosecutors Thursday to subpoena a man named Kevin Michaels to testify Aug. 25 about the recording.
Lawyer Robert Lucherini has said the recording casts doubt on Michael McClinton's testimony against Simpson and two co-defendants.
Lucherini said the tape could exonerate his client, Clarence "C.J." Stewart.
Simpson lawyer Gabriel Grasso said it also could clear Simpson.
McClinton has testified that Simpson asked him to bring guns to confront two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas casino hotel room last September.
