PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. -- A second trial related to the murder of Lake Worth teacher Barry Grunow started Monday.

In the first trial, Nathaniel Brazill was sentenced to 28 years in prison for gunning down his teacher. The second trial will consider a case against the gun used to kill Grunow.
The attorney for Pam Grunow, Barry Grunow's widow, said, "This is not a case against Nathaniel Brazill. It is not a case against all guns on the market. This is a case against Saturday night specials."
Attorney Bob Montgomery says the suit targets the .25-caliber Raven handgun used by Brazill. Montgomery said the gun's distributor should have known that the gun was poorly built, unreliable, easily concealed and often misused. He said that the gun is "used much of the time for criminal activity -- by juveniles - for killings. [It] should not be on the market."
Similar lawsuits have been unsuccessful, including ones from cities that have sued manufacturers.
In this case, the distributor is being sued. The manufacturer went out of business 11 years ago.
The lawsuit says the distributor, Valor, was negligent because of poor design and lack of safety features such as a lock.
Montgomery said, "There were safety features they ignored, did not put in place as they should have."
But John Renzulli, Valor's attorney, says it's unfair to blame a distributor who is just the "middle man."
Valor blames a Brazill family friend who left the gun unsecured and Brazill himself.
"There was no defect," Renzulli said. "This was a tragic accident that unfortunately happened. The person at fault was convicted and is now in prison."
Brazill may be called to testify, as well as Pam Grunow (pictured, above left). She says the Saturday night special should have been less dangerous and secured with a safety lock.
