Maria Santiago, a Democratic supporter, found the graffiti Wednesday morning on her home in the 10200 block of Southwest 128th Court. The words "Obama Sucks" were painted on the outside of her house.

Santiago said she was painting over it immediately, but that wont erase her outrage at having her house vandalized.

"I was infuriated," Santiago said. "I was very angry at this."

Two signs supporting Obama also were stolen from Santiago's front yard. She was not the only victim -- signs were missing from at least 15 other homes in the same neighborhood. The thieves only stole Obama signs, and the signs supporting other candidates were left behind.

"I'm hoping that it was just a kid and not an adult that would do something like this, that people would stoop that low to write on someone's house," said Georgi Brandon, whose Obama sign was stolen.

"Shouldn't we all have the right to our own opinions and not be violated?" said Cindy David, another resident whose sign was stolen.

David, a professional garden designer, is planning a new butterfly garden in her front yard with a new main attraction: a replacement Obama sign.

"They've left me the post, so I'll be able to just slide another one right on there," David said.

The Democratic Party is sending a batch of replacement signs for the neighborhood. The neighbors said it is their right to have their property and their opinions respected.
