MIAMI -- Convicted killer Kirby Archer will soon learn his fate after pleading guilty to last year's hijacking of the "Joe Cool" charter boat and slayings of four people aboard.
Archer faces a maximum of life in prison when he is sentenced Tuesday by a federal judge in Miami.
The 36-year-old Archer pleaded guilty in July to first-degree murder, robbery, kidnapping and hijacking the boat. The plea spared Archer a possible death penalty.
Prosecutors say Archer hijacked the boat and headed for Cuba to escape child molestation and theft investigations in Arkansas.
A mistrial was declared earlier this month for a second man accused in the slayings. A second trial for 20-year-old Guillermo Zarabozo is set for January.
