MIAMI -- A multivehicle crash on Interstate 95 killed five people and closed down that interstate just after 11 a.m. this morning, police said.

The northbound side of the interstate between Hallandale Beach Boulevard and Pembroke Road had two lanes reopened just after 2 p.m. Three southbound lanes have reopened. Motorists should expect slowdowns, particularly during the early part of rush hour.
Sky10 reported that a tanker, a truck and a car were involved in the wreck, and at least two of the vehicles burned.
Channel 10 reporter Jeff Weinsier is at the scene, and reports that the drivers of the two trucks both survived the accident. He said preliminary reports indicate that four of those who died were in the car, which was a taxi cab. Investigators have not been able to determine which company the cab belongs to.
Weinsier also reports that several people tried unsuccessfully to rescue those in the car.
FHP troopers said that preliminary investigation indicates that the tanker and truck were both en route to Port Everglades.
FHP officials said that they found luggage and what appeared to be cruise ship tickets in the accident wreckage.
