Some of music’s biggest names packed an arena Sunday on the campus of Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens.

About 1.000 people were on hand for the get-out-the-vote rally aimed at getting last-minute voters to the polls on election day. Singers Mary J. Blige and Beyonce, joined rappers Jay-Z and Sean “P-Diddy” Combs for the rally that weighed heavily in Sen. Barack Obama’s corner.

"We came out to see you guys personally because it’s not enough for us to vote. We have to make sure that you guys vote", said rapper Jay-Z to the enthusiastic crowd.

Record executive Kevin Liles and mogul Russell Simmons also took the stage for the one-hour event.

The stars took note of the long lines that have been seen at many of Florida’s polling sites during early voting.

“Hang out for the four hours. You need to hang out because we need to do something different”, said Mary J. Blige.

"On Nov. 4, we're going to make history and it’s not going to be because of the celebrities you see up here, it’s going to be because of ya'll who stand in the line, who cared about your communities and went out and voted," added Sean “P-Diddy” Combs.

However, most of the crowd indicated to the celebrities that their votes had already been cast. This meant the “get-out-the-vote” rally was more of a celebration.

"Camaraderie. Just the fact that everybody came out to come together in peace and support one thing", said voter Cherie Constantine. Most of the stars took the time to shake hands and remind voters that they have one more chance to head to the polls-- Election Day.

Outdoors the energy just as high as celebrities reminded the crowd that time is winding down.

“Of course I voted.”, said Grammy-winning singer and actress Beyonce Knowles. “I’m just happy to be alive to witness this historic election”, added Knowles.

Most of the celebrities that turned out for the event plan to make several more stops over the next two days in key battleground areas, to encourage voters to head to the polls and support their candidate of choice.
