New Renaissance Middle School Tops Violence List In South Fla.

MIRAMAR, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Education released a yearly report on the number of incidents of crime and violence on the campuses of Florida's schools.
New Renaissance Middle School in Miramar tops the list when it comes to schools with the most incidents of crime and violence in South Florida.

Part 2According to the Florida Department of Education, New Renaissance had 408 incidents on campus for the 2006-2007 school year.
Parents who talked to Local 10 outside the school on Monday afternoon had no idea and were shocked to see the number.
"How do you get this? Why don't we know?" one parent said.
The Florida Department of Education releases the numbers as part of the Florida School Indicators Report. The report includes incidents that involve weapons, drugs, sex crimes, fights, violent acts against a person and disorderly conduct.
When you look at the numbers, remember there are 180 days in a school year.
The Miami-Dade County Public Schools did not make principals available for comment.

Brownsville Middle: 212 incidents Charles Drew Middle: 231 incidents North Miami Middle: 248 incidents Redland: 256 incidents Campbell Drive Middle: 352 incidents In Broward County, these were some of the numbers of incidents:
