UPDATED: 8:02 am EST December 7, 2008

Three suspected smugglers are on the run after police noticed something suspicious about their boat.

On Saturday, police said they saw the 30-foot boat in the waters off Bay Harbor Islands, with no lights on.

When they tried to stop the driver of the boat, he allegedly sped off before crashing behind the Oasis on the Bay restaurant.

Police said four people started running away. One of them was caught in the laundry room of an apartment complex on Northeast 80th Street and Bayshore Drive.

A witness told Local 10, "He had two bags on one side. I saw him and then I saw them arrest him."

Police said the men were carrying large duffel bags, which they believe contained drugs.

The one man who was caught will face a number of criminal charges.
