NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Four suspects have been arrested in connection with an armed kidnapping this weekend in North Miami Beach.
North Miami Beach police said a man was locking up the Prestige Food Mart in the 16700 block of Northeast Second Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday when four armed men approached him.
Police said the men forced the alleged victim into a vehicle. As they drove him around Miami-Dade County, police said, the men tortured the victim. The kidnappers demanded that the victim drop off ransom money at a specific time and place and threatened his family's lives if he didn't bring the cash.
North Miami Beach police conducted an undercover operation and did a controlled ransom drop.
Four suspects, 27-year-old Edouard Toussaint, 27-year-old Gerald Joseph, 19-year-old Evens Jean and 26-year-old Roosevelt Dejoie, were arrested, police said.
