NORTH MIAMI, Fla. -- Police in North Miami are searching for a man who fled the scene after a K-9 officer who was trying to pull him over got into a crash on Thursday morning.
Authorities said a Florida Highway Patrol trooper was trying to pull over a car with an expired license plate. When the trooper ran the tag, he found that the registered driver had no license, Local 10's Glenna Milberg reported.
Before the trooper could stop the car, authorities said, a Ford pickup truck that was driving somewhere else got in the way and the trooper lost control of the police cruiser. The police car crashed through the concrete wall of a house near Northeast 128th Street and 12th Avenue.
The trooper, who is a K-9 officer, and his dog were transported to hospitals with minor injuries. They are expected to be OK.
The driver of the car that was being pursued stopped, got out and fled on foot. Police identified the suspect as Emmanuel Noel. Officers arrested the woman who was riding in the passenger seat.
