PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. -- A Pembroke Pines man who has won praise and awards for his holiday display is in disbelief today after someone trashed his decorations.

"My wife was upset, and I'm upset too. Christmas was made for everybody to enjoy ... It seems like people just take it for granted. I just hate to see things destroyed," said Roger Macrohan.
Macrohan turned off his lights Wednesday around 11:30 p.m. When he walked out to his front door today around 5 a.m., he found a sleigh and reindeer in a swale down the street, a white picket fence knocked out of the ground and dozens of string lights pulled from their places.
"It's a terrible, terrible thing. I came out here and I saw it. I said 'Oh no.' I started running to my stuff to see if I had anything vandalized," said neighbor Helen Goors, who also said she's had more than a taste of holiday vandalism. "Last year they tore down my Christmas tree and laid over my reindeer and so that's why I didn't decorate on that side (of my house)."
Despite the vandalism, Macrohan said he would not let the destruction dampen his holiday spirit. He set to work this morning, putting things back in place.
"You get a good feeling when people drop by, and stop and say, 'Hey you are doing a good job,'" he said.
A police report has been filed, but neighbors feel the only thing that will make a difference is if residents keep an extra eye out for yuletide vandals.
