HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- It's 22 months behind schedule and $30 million over budget, but today the new Hallandale Beach Bridge is ready to open.
An alignment problem had delayed opening in recent days, but that has been resolved.
Commuters have endured four years of reduced lanes and roadblocks. Now the commute will pick up again. The roadblocks are down and the way is open.
Engineers say the new drawbridge is taller and opens faster.
