LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. -- Investigators said they believe four robbers who killed a teenager outside a Broward County high school also fired shots at a girl standing nearby.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, police believe a girl was waiting for a ride outside Boyd H. Anderson High School after a talent show Friday night at the same time as 16-year-old Gregory Smith and his three friends.
Police said four men approached Smith and his friends and robbed them. Although they complied with the robbers' demands, police said the gunmen opened fire, shooting and killing Smith.
BSO said police believe the girl, who was not with Smith and the others, started to run away when she saw the robbery and that the robbers also fired shots at her. She was not shot, police said.
The robbers escaped, and no arrests have been made. Police described the gunmen as four black men in their late teens to early 20s. They escaped in a dark, mid-1990s to early 2000 model Mustang, police said.
Investigators believe the girl might have information important to the case. They believe she is also a student at Boyd Anderson High School.
Anyone with information should contact the Broward Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
